Flying into Cancun Airport (CUN) and staying in Tulum? Pick up your rental car at the airport and drive south on Highway 307: about 118 km (73 miles), between 1 hour 45 minutes and 2 hours. You can return the car in Cancun at the end of the trip, or leave it at our Tulum office with a one-way rental.
How it works, step by step
- Book online and choose Cancun Airport as pickup and Tulum as return place. Add your flight number.
- Meet our team outside the arrivals hall and ride the free shuttle to our Cancun office.
- Sign and drive. We review the car with you and you leave with the keys.
- Drive to Tulum on Highway 307, past Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen and Akumal.
- Return the car at our Tulum office on Avenida Tulum, any day between 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM.
One-way or round trip?
- One-way (Cancun to Tulum). A fixed drop-off fee applies by vehicle category and is shown before you book. You skip the long drive back and the airport transfer on your last day.
- Round trip. Return the car at Cancun Airport with no extra fee. Better if you will use the car to go back for your flight.
On the road to Tulum
- Highway 307 is paved and well signposted, with gas stations in every town. Pay in pesos and check that the pump starts at zero.
- Watch for speed bumps (topes) at the entrance of every town.
- Allow more time on Friday and Sunday afternoons.
- Do not plan to arrive after dark: the highway is unlit between towns.
- Police and military checkpoints are routine; keep your license and contract at hand.
Arriving at Tulum International Airport (TQO)?
TQO is about 25 km south of Tulum town. If you fly there instead of Cancun, contact us before your flight and we will coordinate your pickup.
