Landing at Cancun Airport (CUN) and staying in Playa del Carmen? The simplest way to get there with a car in hand is to pick up your rental at the airport and drive south on Highway 307. You can return it in Cancun at the end of the trip, or leave it at our Playa del Carmen office with a one-way rental.
How it works, step by step
- Book online and choose Cancun Airport as the pickup place and Playa del Carmen as the return place. Add your flight number.
- Meet our team outside the arrivals hall. A free shuttle takes you to our Cancun office, a few minutes from the terminal.
- Sign and drive. We review the car with you and you leave with the keys.
- Drive to Playa on Highway 307, about 55 km (34 miles) and 50 to 60 minutes.
- Return the car at our Playa del Carmen office on Avenida 10 Norte between Calle 2 and Calle 4, any day between 8:00 AM and 10:00 PM.
One-way or round trip?
- One-way (Cancun to Playa). A fixed drop-off fee applies by vehicle category and is shown before you book. You skip the drive back to Cancun and the airport transfer on your last day.
- Round trip. Return the car at Cancun Airport with no extra fee. Better if you will drive to Playa and back for a flight at the end of your trip.

The drive from the airport to Playa del Carmen
- Leave the airport on the road to Highway 307 and follow signs to Playa del Carmen and Tulum.
- The highway is paved, well signposted and has several gas stations. Pay in pesos and check that the pump starts at zero.
- Watch for speed bumps (topes) at the entrance of towns and for traffic on Friday and Sunday afternoons.
- Playa has several exits; the one for the center leads you toward Avenida 10 and the office.
