The archaeological zone of Chichen Itza is one of the mandatory destinations for those who visit the Yucatan Peninsula. The beauty and importance of this site make it one of the most visited points by tourism.

Here are some tips you should keep in mind when deciding to tour this place:

1. THE WEATHER
The main factor that you have to take into account is the temperature in Yucatan. Usually they reach more than 30 degrees Celsius and in the months of April-May they could reach more than 40 degrees. 

2. TIME TO TOUR THE AREA
If you want to enjoy the archaeological zone in its entirety, the time it will take you to do so will be between two and three hours. Remember to organize yourself well to have the time to take the pictures you want in this beautiful place.

3. COMFORTABLE CLOTHES
You have to keep in mind that you will walk a lot to tour the area. So have an additional t-shirt, preferably cotton, with you to change after your tour. Similarly wear closed shoe, preferably sports.

Pyramid of Kukulcán: Without a doubt this is the main attraction of those who visit this place. Its elegance and beauty make it the perfect setting to take your picture of the memory. The busiest day in the area is Sunday, so if you want a photo where only you appear and the pyramid will have to wait.

Observatory:  This is one of the structures that can not be missing in your tour, no matter if you have little time. The main feature of this structure is that the doors and windows are aligned with astronomical events.

Temple of the Warriors:  This is a large stepped pyramid and at the top of the stairs is the figure of Chac Mool.

Sacred Cenote:  This was a place with a lot of meaning for the Mayan culture. Here sacrifices were made for the prosperity of the city.

Light and sound:  If you decide to stay until late at night you can enjoy the light and sound event called «Kukulcan Nights».
